Your Wedding at First Congregational Church

One facet of our strong commitment to being a united and a uniting church is that we welcome couples that want a church wedding but who each come from different religious traditions.  We regard weddings as a service of worship, but within the framework of Christian worship, we allow wide latitude in selecting the vows, readings, and music to reflect your wishes.  We do not require church membership to hold a wedding here, but at least one person needs to be a Christian.

The church has a beautiful, air-conditioned sanctuary that comfortably accomodates170 guests.  It is fully handicapped accessible.  We have an excellent concert-caliber organ and piano and our director of music is a highly experienced professional with a thorough command of both traditional and contemporary wedding and service music.

We do require that the pastor of First Congregational Church officiate at all weddings that take place in the church.  We are happy to accommodate most requests to officiate at your wedding along with ordained ministers and priests of most other Christian denomination including Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, and Evangelical churches.

After learning of apartheid's true horrors through Biko's eyes, Woods discovers that his friend has been silenced by the police. Determined not to let Biko's message go unheard, he undertakes a perilous quest to escape South Africa to bring Biko's remarkable tale of courage to the world.
