Baptisms ![]() In the tradition of most Protestant denominations, the United Church of Christ has only two sacraments, the Lord's Supper and Baptism. Baptism is the once-in-a-lifetime event that marks our entrance into the Christian family or as we like to say, "It is the event whereby our God claims us for all time." ![]() Baptisms at First Congregational Church are always conducted as part of a Sunday worship service to reflect our profound belief that the rite is a community event, marking the entrance of the baptized person into the global Christian family, and reminding the entire congregation of their own baptismal vows. ![]() Baptisms normally are conducted by sprinkling of water and baptism in this church is recognized and accepted by the Catholic, Orthodox, and virtually all Protestant denominations. The church accepts infants, children, and adults for baptism. The pastor is happy to meet with you to answer your questions and, if you desire to be baptized, to prepare you for the rite.
