Wednesday Morning Playgroup

September through June

2011-2012 Sessions Begin on Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Many stay-at-home-during-the-day parents have called this program a Godsend -- in more ways than one!  Each Wednesday from September through about the middle of June, from 9:30  until 11:00 A.M. mothers with preschoolers (and dads, too!) converge on Norton Fellowship Hall with their offspring in tow.

The children interact with their peers, sometimes integrating group creative play for the first time in their lives.  There are many activities for them to do, and caring adults to supervise.  The parents watch their kids enjoying their morning as they sip coffee and tea and talk about the joys of parenting, the challenges of parenting, and, well, any subject at hand!

Need some adult time during the day?  This is one way to get it, and at the same time your child will benefit from the natural socialization that occurs when playing with his and her peers.  The program is directed by Ms. Rose Pero and she is assisted by Mr. Henry Chilian.

The program is free and all are welcome.

Cry Freedom

In honor of Black History Month, we will present Richard Attenborough's sweeping story of black activist Stephen Biko (Denzel Washington) and a liberal white newspaper editor Donald Woods (Kevin Kline) who risks his own life to bring Biko's message to the world. After learning of apartheid's true horrors through Biko's eyes, Woods discovers that his friend has been silenced by the police. Determined not to let Biko's message go unheard, he undertakes a perilous quest to escape South Africa to bring Biko's remarkable tale of courage to the world. This riveting, true story offers a stirring account of man at his most evil and most heroic.  RATED PG.
