About Our Church

We are a different kind of church because...

We are a congregation of couples, singles, and families; of children, teens, adults, and seniors. Coming together for worship are individuals who were born in Korea, Canada, Iraq, Germany, as well as the United States and several other lands.  We come from a variety of faith backgrounds including life-long Congregationalists, Roman Catholic,  Baptist,  Orthodox, Methodist, Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, and several other denominations as well as individuals who have had no former church affiliation.  The motto of the United Church of Christ is "a united and a uniting church" and we live this principle when we gather to worship together. We are small enough so you can know everybody's name and form real friendships at the same time that we are large enough to offer a wide range of opportunities for worship, fellowship, learning, and service.  Click here to see some of the posters from just a sampling of the activities that have taken place in this lively congregation.

We Offer Inspiring and Uplifting worship

  • Inspiring preaching that each week reminds us of God's unwavering love for us while also calling us to live our lives in ways that demonstrate our love for others.  The thought-provoking sermons shed the wisdom of Scripture on the challenges of living today.
  •  Uplifting worship services  that "honor the old while embracing the new" with a beautiful combination of traditional and contemporary prayers, readings, and music. Service music embraces the most loved traditional organ music and hymns as well as contemporary Gospel, a Folk Choir, spirituals, guest artists, and a Children's Choir.

  • Creative blend of the best of traditional and contemporary music featuring our choir and guest soloists and instrumentalists.
  • A terrific, fun-filled Sunday School program, that engages children in meaningful, spirit-filled, Bible-based lessons with dynamic teachers!

A strong commitment to children and youth
  • We are committed to sharing the gift of faith with children and youth.  We offer a fun-filled Sunday School program year-round as well many opportunities throughout the year for children and youth to participate actively in worship and service to others.
  • Every Sunday worship service includes a special time and message for young people.
  • Our Vacation Bible School joyfully serves children, grades 1 through 5 from this congregation as well as Catholic, Protestant, and non Christian families.
  • Special weekly children's message directed especially to them during worship.
  • Children's playgroup/parent's friendship group meets each Wednesday morning from 9:30-11:00, September-June.

A community caring for one another and our neighbors
  • Our denomination and this church were founded on the principle of religious freedom with a long history of progressive thought and action.
  • Congregational churches in the Unite
d States were the first to ordain women, and were also leaders in abolishing slavery in the 19th century and fighting racism in the 20th century.
  • Our church serves the community by providing a home for AA, Parkinson's Disease Support Group, Activities Unlimited, Toastmasters, Girl Scouts, and many other local organizations.
  • Parking is available on the street in front of and in the parking lot behind the church.
  • Our facilities are completely accessible for those with physical challenges including designated parking, entrance ramp, elevator, and handicap-accessible restroom.
  • The sanctuary is equipped with an infrared audio system and we provide large-type worship bulletins.
  • There is a lounge immediately behind the sanctuary that parents of babies, toddlers and young children can use during service and from which you can both see the service through the windows and hear everything through the speakers.
